If you're using AI agents. Every agent has its own rules file.

I personally use Replit, so its rules file is called replit.md.

Cloud uses claude.md.

Cursor uses cursor rules.

These rules files are where you place information that you want your AI agent to follow.

One example of what I use it for is my phone number standardization.

Having to tell my agent

every time, I want you to set this form up to have exactly ten digits and to have dashes. And when people enter the number, they can only enter numbers.

After going through that a few times, I was like, why don't I set up a rule?

I told Replit to apply these phone field rules to any phone field.

This is just one of those little things you can do to make your life a lot simpler.
