Have you ever had a desk phone and it just drives you nuts because somebody bumps the phone, or you just barely touch it or bump it and the handset just slides off and falls? Especially if you've got a wall mounted phone and you try to do this and it just will not stay on. Let me show you the hack to fix that.

Almost every desk phone has this, whether it's VoiceOver IP or an old digital phone system. Just lift your handset and look right here where the handset sits, and you'll see this little cutout. This will actually slide off. Or you have to pry it off with a screwdriver. What you do is you simply flip it 180 degrees and slide it back in.

And on this side, there's actually a little clip.

So your handset will actually sit in here and lock in place. You can sit here and bump the phone especially if it's wall mounted. You do this and it's not going to go anywhere. And even if it's sitting on the desk, somebody bumps the phone or whatever, it's not going to slide up and slightly, you know, take the phone off hook.

But it's still not hard to get off. You just have to do a slight up movement to get it off of that hook right here. So hopefully that is a revelation to some of you and helps you with your desk phones.
