Stop Facebook Account Cloning & Hacking in 2025 – Lock Down Your Profile in 5 Minutes!

Hey everyone, Michael from Fireytech here with a super-important Lit Tip that will save you and your friends a ton of headaches.

You’ve almost certainly gotten a random friend request from someone who looks exactly like one of your real friends — same profile picture, same name, maybe even some copied posts. That’s a cloned account, and scammers use it to trick your friends into accepting so they can spam or scam them.

The good news? You can make cloning your profile almost impossible in just a few clicks.

**The Two Most Important Settings to Change Right Now**

1. **Hide Your Friends List**
By default, Facebook shows your entire friends list to the public. Cloners love this because they can see exactly who to target.
→ Change “Who can see your friends list?” to **Friends** or **Only Me** (Only Me is the safest).

2. **Stop Posting Publicly**
Future posts → set to **Friends** (not Public)
Past posts → use “Limit Past Posts” to bulk-change everything you’ve ever posted to Friends-only in one click.

**Quick How-To (Desktop)**
- Click your profile picture → Settings & Privacy → Settings → Privacy
- Under “Who can see your future posts?” → Edit → Friends
- Click “Limit Past Posts” → Limit Old Posts
- Scroll down to “Who can see your friends list?” → Edit → Friends or Only Me

**On Your Phone (Android or iPhone)**
- Tap the three-line menu → Settings & Privacy → Settings → Privacy Checkup
- Tap “Who can see what you share” → go through Friends List, Posts, and Profile info
- Lock everything down to Friends or Only Me

**Extra Pro Tips**
- Also hide your birthday, email, and phone number — scammers use those details to make fake accounts look more real.
- Search your own name on Facebook once in a while and report any fake duplicates immediately.
- Turn on two-factor authentication (2FA) — this won’t stop cloning, but it stops actual hacking.

If someone has already cloned your account or you think you’ve been genuinely hacked and can’t get back in, we can help recover it fast (and clean any malware off your computer that might have caused the breach).
