You just factory reset an Android phone (or bought a cheap one off Facebook Marketplace/Craigslist), and boom you get this message: “This device was reset. To continue, sign in with a Google account that was previously synced on this device.”
That’s Google’s Factory Reset Protection (FRP) doing its job… but when you don’t have the old owner’s password, it’s a brick.
Happens ALL the time to unsuspecting buyers.
**My Go-To Quick & Cheap Service (Still Awesome in 2025)**
UnlockJunky – I’ve personally used them to unlock phones and tablets:
http://www.unlockjunky.com/
- Usually under 30 minutes
- $20–$40 depending on model
- 100% success on everything I’ve sent them
- No software downloads, no sketchy tools — they remote in or give you exact steps
**Even Better Official/Free Options in 2025**
1. **Google’s Own 72-Hour Wait (Free!)**
If you have ANY access to the original Google account, just wait 72 hours after changing the password and it usually lets you in automatically.
2. **OEM Unlocking in Developer Options (Prevent it next time)**
Before you ever reset: Settings → About Phone → tap Build Number 7 times → back to Settings → System → Developer Options → enable OEM Unlocking. Makes FRP bypassable.
3. **New 2024–2025 Tools That Actually Work & Are Safe**
- Tenorshare 4uKey for Android (one-click, works on Samsung/Pixel/Xiaomi)
- PassFab Android Unlock (great success rate on newer Pixel 8/9 and Samsung S23/S24)
Both have free trials and are under $40 lifetime.
